wanna know what division you are?
don’t worry. you can’t mess this up.
DIVISIONS
The bottom line is that you sign-up as a same-sex pair, and the rest is determined when you check-in for the event. Easy peasy.
Participants will be grouped based on combined age of both partners AND combined weight of both parnters. Your division will be finalized when you check-in - we will have designated times for check-in at CrossFit 8035, Thursday through Saturday leading up to the event; you’ll be able to come at a time that works for you. For registration, you’ll provide a rough estimate of combined age/weight, but that’s not concrete until check-in. ***If you have a partner change, a birthday between now and the event, or weight change…doesn’t matter because we’ll verify everything at check-in and adjust accordingly. We will crown a winner from each unique division - so a LOT of potential winners.
There are 3 weight classes that will reflect partners combined weight total. We want teams somewhat equally distributed so more groups have a chance to win, and we don’t want people attempting to “cut weight” to participate in this event - so once registrations begin we’ll clarify more specific weight class designations but here are some very rough estimates:
Featherweight: TBD
Men: cut-off between Featherweight and Middleweight between 290lbs-320lbs combined
Women: cut-off between Featherweight and Middleweight between 260lbs-290lbs combined
Middleweight: TBD
Men: cut-off between Middleweight and Heavyweight between 365lbs-390lbs combined
Women: cut-off between Middleweight and Heavyweight between 335lbs-355lbs combined
Heavyweight: TBD
There are also 3 age divisions that will reflect partners combined ages:
Young Guns: 48 & Under
Middle Age: 49-69
Masters: 70+
Division winners will be something like the following (depending on number of teams, and weights/ages:

EVENTS
We told you it was strength. And for those familiar with The CF Circus, we don’t like giving away too much. So here’s what we can tell you…
There will be 7 mini strength events - 6 as part of a series of timed lifts, and 1 floater event that you can complete at your convenience, with some minimal limitations.
Each event will vary a bit. Might be an 8 rep deadlift max for each partner, might be total weight front squatted in 5 minutes, might be 1 rep max bench…they will be strength-focused, but they will vary so teams can strategize to their individual capabilities. Events will be formally announced roughly 2 weeks prior!
Your team will have a start-time (between 8:30am and 4pm), and at that time you’ll begin strength event 1 then proceed through each of the events (with rests between) like a conga-line - there are no heats. Each of the 6 timed events will be 5 minutes from start to finish lifting, 2 minutes to clear your barbell for the next team, with 14 minute rests in between - example is as follows (you and your partner move together throughout and you will be permitted to leave the floor during rest priors but you are responsible for being back to your station before your next event):
8:30-8:35am: Event 1 (5 min to lift, 2 minutes to clear barbell)
8:35-8:45am: 14 min REST
8:45-8:50am: Event 2 (5 min to lift, 2 minutes to clear barbell)
8:50-9:00am: 14 min REST
9:00-9:05am: Event 3 (5 min to lift, 2 minutes to clear barbell)
9:05-9:15am: 14 min REST
9:15-9:20am: Event 4 (5 min to lift, 2 minutes to clear barbell)
9:20-9:30am: 14 min REST
9:30-9:35am: Event 5 (5 min to lift, 2 minutes to clear barbell)
9:35-9:45am: 14 min REST
9:45-9:50am: Event 6 (5 min to lift, 2 minutes to clear barbell)
DONE
All participants should be capable of CrossFit barbell movements and their variations (no minimum weight requirements so as long as you can do each lift with an empty barbell, you’re good to go).
